The things we buy have a life long after we’ve discarded them
At its heart, Meadow Run Collections is about sustainability, about seeking ways to meet our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Every time we purchase something, whether it’s a plastic straw or a sofa, that object has a lifespan, a lifespan which doesn’t end when we put it out on the curb or drop it off at a donation site. While purchasing previously owned items for your home isn’t the only act of sustainability you can incorporate into your life, we believe that small, conscious efforts towards sustainability can add up to a meaningful difference. When you buy something from Meadow Run, you’re buying something that is already local to the area. There’s no cargo ship or jet fuel involved in getting these items into your hands. When you purchase something that already exists, you eliminate the need to harvest new resources and reduce the amount of waste in landfills. Buying something that was previously owned allows pieces to be enjoyed for their entire lifecycle, not just a brief time after they were made. As part of our own sustainability effort we donate a percentage of every purchase to local organizations that serve our community.
We’re more than just vintage
Our mission may be rooted in sustainability, but we’re equally interested in style and character. When curating the collection we’re searching for sensible and useful pieces that fit right into your home. It isn’t about collecting something in mint condition, or finding a piece from a certain time that’s worth a lot of money. We’re looking for things that, with a little love, have so much more to give. Sometimes this means adding a coat of paint or other times we’ll sand something down to the bare wood. The most important thing to us is creating and offering a collection of things you’d love to own.
